Mayra Aguilera

Mayra Aguilera is of Mexican descent and was born and raised in Orange
County, California. She has taught for nine years in K-2 positions,
facilitated classes in Culturally Relevant Pedagogy, and supported new
teachers across the country for Teach for America. She is a lifelong
learner who has a bachelors in political science and peace studies, as well
as a masters in early childhood education. Mayra's studies and career have
taken her all over the world, including South Africa, where she founded
after-school programs in townships. Mayra's passion for human rights and
freedom has made her realize that education is the foundation of both,
which is why she's here--to help kids everywhere be free.
